The Zanzibar Archipelago consists of several islands lying off the coast of East Africa south of the Somali sea.
There are four main islands, three primary developed islands and a fourth coral island that serves as an essential breeding ground for seabirds.
Governance:
In 1964 Zanzibar, together with Pemba Island and some other smaller islands, joined with Tanganyika on the mainland to form the United Republic of Tanzania.
Birthplace of Freddie Mercury:
One of the most famous musicians (Queen’s lead singer) in the world, Farroukh Bulsara – who you might know as Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar.
Zanzibar has the Perfect 12 Hour Day and Night Cycle throughout the Year:
Due to the proximity to the equator, the island follows the perfect 12 hours a day & 12 hours night rule. Except for a few minutes difference the sunrise and sunset are at the same time throughout the year.

Zanzibar was the first country in Africa to introduce color television in 1973.
